WORDS FOR THE WEARY

Home / Devotional Blog / WORDS FOR THE WEARY

The way we speak is shaped by the way we think and how our character is built in us. People in the world love to curse because that’s the way the culture is and what they hear every single time. People would speak negatively if that’s how their environment is and how they grow up. Some people don’t believe in words that they themselves are saying but saying it just for the sake of comforting themselves.

We as believers are supposed to be different. We believe that Jesus lives in us and we should live led by the Holy Spirit. The words that re coming of our mouth need to be positive and give hope and lift others who are weary.
Isaiah chapter 50 verse 4 says that the Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned (disciple) that I should know how to speak. Disciple is someone who learn to be like the teacher. Others can tell who our Teacher is by the words that are coming of our mouth. There is no way Jesus utter negative, hatred filled words, beating down, faithless, bigotry and hurtful kind of words and those words should never come of our mouth if we truly are His disciples. Verse 4 says that the Lord has given me the tongue /the words to speak to others.

Believers cannot just assume that once they receive Jesus in their life and the way they speak will change. It takes process and effort. There is a price that we must pay. Isaiah 50:4 continues saying that God awaken me morning by morning. He awakens my ear to hear as the learned (disciple).

As disciple of Christ, to be like Him that we need to hear what the Lord are saying CONTINUOUSLY, MORNING BY MORNING it says. Those who diligently seek Him will receive revelations from God. As disciple of Christ; it means we must be willing to be taught and be shaped to be like Him then the words that we speak will be Jesus words that fill our hearts that will lift the weary. Those who call themselves believer but do not spend the time with Christ, don’t be surprised that the words they speak is faithless, have no power and do not comfort others.
Let’s check our spoken words; is it positive, godly words, does it lift others or bring others down? Remember that we are disciple of Christ. Are your ears willing and excited to be awaken every morning?

Isaiah 50:4 (NKJV)
4 “The Lord GOD has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.

Daily prayer
Lord, I truly want to be Your disciple and when others hear me that they would glorify Your Name. Wake me every morning and I want to learn. Holy Spirit teach me and place the words in my tongue to lift others and to praise God always. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amin
