We are so accustomed to what are acceptable in society that as Christians we lower our standard. Jesus never lowered His standard. Every law and His commandments are very clear on how we suppose to live. Yes, His grace and mercy are very generous but it doesn’t mean that we can live however we want to be.
We as Christians are very vocal in the church. We bless our God, we glorify Him with our words. We bless other people by saying God bless you or Jesus loves you and yet outside the church many of us curse others who annoy us, who make us angry. We scream at God when things don’t go our way and many times we turn our back to Him until one day we realize that we need Him. Then the cycle repeats itself. We get comfortable and again continue to do what we have been doing.
We bless and curse from the same mouth. We say nice words and condemning words from our tongue. We love God yet we hate others. That is not the way it’s supposed to be. God’s greatest commandment is to Love God with all of our heart, our soul, our mind and our strength and to love others as we love ourselves.
Notice on God’s commandment. He did not say to only love our friends but to love others. That is other than ourselves; all other people; friends, foe, enemies. We all know how to love ourselves except for some who hates themselves. Those who cannot appreciate themselves, there is no way they can love God because they feel that God cheated them or did not created them the way they want it to be.
We should look at ourselves and the way we live. The only way to be able to love others is to have God’s love in our heart and have Jesus lives in us. He has shown that He loves all. He died for all. If we have Him in us and totally surrender our will to Him, let Him change us then we too can love others the way He loves all of His creation.
We can’t glorify God and yet cursing at His creation. It means we put ourselves above others even though God created us equal. Do not live the way society lives. Do not accept the moral of the world but become a true Christian and live the way God wants us to live.
James 3:9-11
Daily prayer
Lord Jesus, forgives me if all this time I become complacent and easily be affected by this world standard. I want to know Your standard and live according to Your standard. I know that I am weak and easily fail and that is why I need You Jesus in my life. Live in me and anoint me with Your love so I can love others the way You love us all. In the Name of Jesus I pray.
