In Micah 6:8 God states: “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
This verse pretty much tells us how to live our lives in this society where human theology and ideals rule the world and sins are being practiced everywhere.
God has told us what is good. It is all in the bible. How can we know what is good if we are not studying His Words. Unfortunately many churches have gotten away from teaching the absolute truth about the bible but instead they teach about what people want to hear. These are the people whose mind are still ruled by things in this world and they only want to go to church whose teaching are to make them feel good about themselves. Instead of being free, they are falsely led by the Word of God that has been twisted by pastors whose purpose is to have mega churches and to glorify themselves instead of God. God has told us what is good. Read the bible.
The Bible is not a collection of suggestions for a good life, the Bible is essential information instructing us how to live our lives to be right with God. This not simply what God likes, but what God requires of us. As believers, we better be interested in what God requires of us, if it is important enough for Him to put it in writing for us, we better listen.
To do justice: God requires us to do what is right always according to His Word, not what we think is right. We should not cut corners, lie or cheat just to make life easier. If we think that as long as the goal is achieved through any means, even by breaking the rules then it defeats the process of God in our lives and the purpose of having a good goal. What’s the point of having a great and spiritual goal but there is nothing good that we do in achieving it? It’s like cheating on your bible quiz or test. God doesn’t need you to get a perfect mark through that. To do justice is to live a life above reproach and above suspicion.
To love kindness: is to show mercy and the love of God in the lives of sinners. We should never attack or condemn sinful behavior but instead encouraging them to live right before God, revealing His truth and gentle loving and let Holy Spirit touch and change their heart. Accusing and judging people will only drive them away but a kind word or generous act will draw people to Him. When we judge others, we are acting contrary to God’s nature.
To walk humbly with God: it doesn’t mean walking around with our heads down and low self esteem. It means that we fully surrender to Him, and willing to be taught, to be changed, shaped, and molded to be like Him. Only humble people are willing to listen to God because we realize that we are nothing without Him. Arrogant people will always feel like they can do everything and they don’t need anybody else, let alone God that they cannot see. We have to know who we are in Christ and live within it. It is done through a fellowship with God in prayer and worship and studying His Words.
God wants us to have full and productive lives. God has provided all we need to do this through His Word and Holy Spirit. Through the Word we find His heart and through His Spirit we find His power. Faith in Christ unlocks both the Word and Spirit in our lives, the Word becomes alive as Holy Spirit dwell in us and it happens when we have faith in Christ alone.
Micah 6:8
Daily prayer
Lord Jesus, You have shown me what is good and now I pray that Your Spirit will guide me and teach me to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly with You. Lord, let me have the courage to show the world Your love and Your mercy that they may draw near to You and believe in You. In the Name of Jesus I pray.
