In Matthew 13:44 Jesus describes Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. When Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a treasure, that treasure must be treasure of immeasurable worth. A man who knows the value of that will sells all that he has just as the next parable from Matthew 13:45-46 where a merchant sold all that he has and bought that pearl.
What God has prepared for us is immeasurable but in both parables shows how we can obtain that treasure or pearl of great price. God wants us to leave everything behind. He didn’t say leave certain things or only things that we want to give up. He said leave all, sell all and obtain that what we were looking for.
There is a reason why we are stuck where we are. Why our life has not improve one bit. Because we don’t understand the value or how valuable the Kingdom of Heaven is, the life that we are supposed to live in, the blessing, the grace and the mercy that Jesus give us and surround us with. We like to live in this pleasure that the world give us. We like to hold on to our way of thinking and life and thinks that if we give up all of that then we will have no pleasure, no life, no fun and no freedom.
As long as we keep a thing or two in our life and hold that higher than Jesus Christ, we will never fully able to enjoy all the things that He is willing to give us. The Owner of life, the Owner of universe can give us much much more than the world could ever give us or what we can obtain through our own strength. If we are willing to let go all those junks that weighing us down, we will obtain the real freedom, the real pleasure, the real life in Him. Don’t hold on to those things that can fade, broken, that will never last, but seek and receive all the things that God has in store for us.
Lord Jesus, I am ready to leave everything behind and seek You and receive all that You have in store for me. I will not hold on to what the world offers me but hold on to You and all of Your ways. In the Name of Jesus I pray.
